Faculty Affiliate Wail S. Hassan Elected Second Vice President of the Modern Language Association

Waïl S. Hassan (Professor, Comparative & World Literature and English) was elected Second Vice President of the Modern Language Association (MLA) in December 2024. His term began in January 2025 and will continue through January 2026. Following the MLA’s leadership succession, Professor Hassan will serve as Vice President in 2026–27 and assume the role of President in 2027–28.

Professor Hassan’s election recognizes his significant contributions to comparative literature, postcolonial studies, and modern Arabic literature.
