Graduate affiliates are encouraged to contact Elly Hanauer at Illinois International to inquire about the graduate student exchange program between UIUC and the Center for American Studies and the Department of Geography at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. It is a beautiful university nestled along the Neckar River and the mountains in Central Germany.  The university has superb programs in American Studies and Geography (complemented by excellent Urban Studies, Cinema, and Literature departments). 

Starting in Spring 2018, graduate affiliates of the Unit have had the opportunity to visit and study at Heidelberg through this program. Through the reciprocal arrangements between the universities, you will register for classes at UIUC, and then travel to Heidelberg to attend classes there. All classes are taught in English and the University of Heidelberg welcomes the US and other international students.
