Claire Baytaş is a PhD candidate in Comparative and World Literature at UIUC. In addition to being an affiliate of the Unit, she holds a minor in Cinema Studies, a graduate certificate from the Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies, and a CITL Graduate Teacher Certificate. Her main research interests lie in the relationship between cultural memory—particularly that of state violence—and migration in written and visual media in French, Turkish, and English.
