'Tóbi is a PhD student in African, African American and African Diaspora history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His ongoing research situates the Obama Presidential Center within a longer durée of Double Displacement in Southside Chicago and Lagos, Nigeria. His interest in theory is to approach ideas from a decolonial and Black Internationalist lens. Methodologically, he attempts to combine archival deep dive, autoethnography and digital historiography to treat urban infrastructures as expanding transgressive and performative archives of displacement. At the Unit of Criticism and Interpretive Theory, he is interested in pursuing his broader scholarly ambition to decolonize colonial archives of displacement by moving beyond what they exclude, toward creating a transnational public history of Global Africa.
